Welcome to no.36

We are Bash, a furniture maker, and Gemma, a print maker. We’ve worked really hard on the restoration of No.36 to create a beautiful place for families and friends to come together and spend some time in the beautiful Somerset town of Axbridge in the Mendip Hills.

Although the current house and workshops were constructed in around 1800 as the pub and rooms of the Old Red Lion, we believe the foundations of the property date back to medieval times, when Axbridge was an important trading hub for textiles, mining and farming. At one time, the Lion was one of fourteen pubs in town.

We continue to restore and repair the house sympathetically to its Georgian heritage - and adding contemporary touches - whilst working our day jobs in the studios housed in the workshops here at the property. We are so excited to be opening its doors up once again, and you can see our Sisyphean progress on the house and get updates by following our social media links and by signing up to the mailing list.
